Saint Mary Church Mission Statement
We, the people of St. Mary Church, the oldest and largest Catholic parish in Milford, center our lives on the Eucharist and the Word of God. We dedicate ourselves to be a community focused on liturgy and prayer, Christian formation for all, and outreach to those in need.
Saint Mary Church is the oldest parish in Milford, the mother parish of a number of parishes stretching from West Haven to Stratford, and currently one of the largest parishes in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Established in 1874, we look back over one hundred and forty years with gratitude to God and to all those who have gone before us in faith. As we look to the future, we do so with great hope and confidence.
We are a Roman Catholic community of faith numbering 12,000 members in all. We are proud of the vitality of the life of our parish. We have a strong and vibrant liturgical and devotional life. We offer an excellent school and religious education program for the formation of our younger members.
We sponsor a wide variety of ministries that reach out to those in need, both within the boundaries of our parish and beyond. We warmly invite you to visit with us and to get to know us. Know that you are always welcome!
We are a parish of various ministries all of which have as their purpose to further the preaching of the Gospel as Jesus has instructed us to do. This website has been designed to give you some insight into our parish, and to invite you to join us in prayer and to participate in the four pillars of Catholic life — advocacy, direct service, education and empowerment.
If you are new to St. Mary, please introduce yourself after Mass. We also encourage you to call or visit the Parish Office to register. We need your participation and will value your talents and time.
St. Mary is an active parish with many persons sharing their special gifts and talents in a variety of ways, all serving the Lord, Jesus Christ. Each person brings his/her own unique experiences, faith, enthusiasm and ideas to help meet the needs of God’s people in this parish, in the wider church and in our community. We invite and encourage you to become involved in parish life and activities, for as Catholics we are here to serve one another in the Lord’s name.
We hope that you find St. Mary a place of spiritual growth, nourishment, and excitement as we worship together, work together and celebrate together God’s life in us!
